Re: Selfhosted mail
I use Proton mail for personal and MXroute for business emails, MXroute is especially great as it's very affordable and has little constraints on space/users/domains.

That's very good to know, I'll also keep this one in mind just in case!odie wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2026 2:16 pm I can recommend mailbox.org. The owner is a well known and respected expert, location is in Germany and prices are very good.

Yeah and I would really really like to self host an email server in the end, but that is a whole next level, confirmed ![]()
Perhaps at one point, I might do it just for fun ![]()

Just saw that there's a forum available. Great work Avatar ![]()
It seems like everyone on the whole internet agrees that self hosted e-mail is not doable, or not worth the hassle.
I think it's totally worth it, but I think it's best to self host mail and use an external provider as an SMTP relay. So use Stalwart (https://stalw.art/) or Mailcow (https://mailcow.email/), but use Migadu/Purelymail/MXroute or any other service to help you out with the delivery.
Using Mailcow to host a few clients/friends e-mail since a few years without any trouble. But will move everyone to Stalward as soon as they release a proper Webmail.

Thank you Linus, and good to see you join us!
Interesting, I didn't know about Stalward and the whole idea you can use other services to help with delivery!

I use a self hosted mail server for notifications, but i don't use it for anything important. It was quite a bit of work to get that through the spam filters, though.
I don't completely blame the mail providers though.... there are a lot of spammers who email.
