Selfhosted mail

Wanted to get peoples opinions on whether it is worth to selfhost main in 2026? Ive had problems with spam filters but other than that its great. What do you have to say?

It's doable but I think it is a lot of effort and there might be lots of issues you can encounter. Email is very important to me so I gave it into the hands of professionals.

Same as odie here, I was thinking about it, but just can't have it ending up in spam boxes and being down, in case at that right time I miss something very important.

I use Proton mail for personal and MXroute for business emails, MXroute is especially great as it's very affordable and has little constraints on space/users/domains.

I can recommend mailbox.org. The owner is a well known and respected expert, location is in Germany and prices are very good.

I've tried to set up my own mail server, but so much public mail providers have different rules and whatnot, ended up being much more headache than it's worth. I use mailgun for my projects now.

Yeah and I would really really like to self host an email server in the end, but that is a whole next level, confirmed :)

Perhaps at one point, I might do it just for fun :D
