Come on, I can't be the only one!

Anyone else here play this? It literally kicked off my CRPG obsession. I was never a huge fan of the full Ultima series, but this one scratched a particular itch.

The clones that came in the 80s too, played them all. Questron, Legacy of the Ancients, Bards Tale.

Not my all-time favourite (that award goes to Pool of Radiance), but when it came out in 1981 (right around my birthday) it just pulled me in completely.

It's also incredible when I look at Ultima and then Baldurs Gate III. We've come a long way.

I played Ultima back in the 1990s, but I was a bit too young to get anything out of it, other than "cool, its a game, things happen when I press buttons"

I've been meaning to try them out now that I'm grown up... I mean, aged... but Morrowind keeps distracting me

Well, it is.

Without Morrowind, no Oblivion, without Oblivion, no Skyrim. Without those three, the fantasy genre would have been completely different. I'd go as far and say without Morrowind, no WoW. Without WoW, the online gaming would be completely different.

Ooooh, Ultima? Big fan here, haven't played it for a while. I own the original big boxes of some Ultima titles including the cloth map and coins.

Dude, thanks for sharing that. Excellent read and it brought back memories for me as well.

I remember playing Monkey Island with me and my neighbor, who was even younger than me. Neither of us knew English, more than a few words, so we drew a list of which combination of insults would win a insult sword fight! We also had a binder full of game tips, from DOS games to Final Fantasy 7 stuff. I remember one time I needed to get some info from the binder, my friend was not at home and I had to ask his mother if I could get the binder haha.

If someone makes a game that requires you to write things down, make time tables, draw maps.... I'd buy that shit
