I used to have that exact same keyboard and mouse. Was the first non-ball mouse as well lol.
I've been dreaming of getting a period correct, top of the line gaming PC from like 2002-2004 and just playing Half-Life and Unreal Tournament with it lol
And Morrowind, obviously.

the monitor makes it or breaks it tbh. tried a 3:2 lcd but the crt just looks so much better with the old games.

Yes! Also usually clustered them in the corners in logical "groups".

Yeeees! 
Games were in upper right corner, media stuff upper left, communication (mIRC and MSN Messenger) lower right and everything else lower left corner.
