Forum frontend changes

Post by Avatar »

Hey y'all,

Been working on the forum frontend design a bit, I hope you like the changes that have been implemented.

The changelog more or less goes as:

Visual hierarchy, everywhere

  • Room names (THE FOYER, THE SWITCHBOARD...) are now proper headers - bigger, bolder, with the > prompt and an underline. You can actually find your way around the index at a glance now.

  • Forum and topic titles are cream, navigation is green, and the small stuff (dates, "by whoever", stats labels) has stepped back into the shadows where it belongs. Three layers: what you click, what you read, what you glance at.

  • Section headers got the // TERMINAL_COMMENT treatment - WHO IS ONLINE, STATISTICS, and friends now know their place.

Readability

  • One coherent type scale across the whole board instead of everything shouting at the same volume.

  • Post text got more breathing room (line spacing), and signatures are now uniformly small and quiet regardless of what's in them.

  • Metadata text lifted from murky gray to something you can actually read against the black.

A hundred small fixes

  • Buttons, dropdowns, and search boxes now share one consistent size and actually line up with each other.

  • Topic icons no longer sink to the bottom of their rows.

  • Checkboxes and radio buttons have their X and * marks centered again.

  • Pagination numbers are dark on the green boxes instead of white-on-green invisible.

  • The navbar reads ACP | MCP instead of the mysterious ACP ¡ MCP (font change collateral from June — the old font made ¡ look intentional).

  • ~ Board index — because the board index is home, and home is ~.

  • Search boxes got a green frame.

  • Footer tidied up and brought onto the same scale as everything else.

Mobile

  • Topic lists no longer get cut off on narrow screens.

  • Known quirk: the bottom bar on mobile collapses the links into icons and a … menu - that's intended behavior I'm still tuning. If something looks off on your phone, post it here.

As always, spotted something broken, misaligned, or unreadable? Reply here or yell in #lobby.

Half of today's fixes came from exactly that kind of feedback.

I noticed the polish coming online this morning, great work!

You must gather your party before venturing forth.
