A new song I like every day

Post by skoobie »

Hi, first post.

I listen to new music every day until I find a song that I really like that I haven't heard before. I'll post them here.

Recommendations and replies very welcome.

Title: I Used to Kill
Artist(s): daine, aldn
Genre(s): hyperpop, emo/pop-punk
Released: August 12, 2026

Thoughts: 2026 is a very good year to be following electronic music. Hyperpop digital texture is used very well in this track as seasoning for the song (versus as an overwhelming/maximalist focus it can be in other songs in the genre).

Honorable mentions:
Crush, Blaketheman1000
Leviticus, Miley
Voice of an Angel, Dux Content
⭐Costume, Mila Culpa

Welcome to the server! :)

I'll be keeping an eye on this topic, love the idea! :)

Title: Coping Mechanism
Artist(s): Car Culture, Physical Therapy
Genre(s): Dreampop, ambient(?)
Released: June 5, 2025 (as single), heard off of Rest Here - Expanded (May 28, 2026)

Thoughts: This whole album was great to have playing through a lazy day. Almost sad in a worn-down hazy kind of way. Today's a slowcore-adjacent day and this works well for that.

Honorable mentions:
I Am What The Dog Brought In, Exiter
1x1, Ninajirachi, Ravenna Golden
⭐7xover, Dogwood Tales
Hazel, Far Apart

Title: I'll See You In My Mind
Artist(s): Greg Freeman
Genre(s): Alt-country, indie rock
Released: 2022

Thoughts: A last-minute post. Just walked in the door from a day trip to Olympic National Park. This was playing angstily on the radio and paired nicely with incredibly boring conversation on the drive there. Great hike, had some good diner food afterwards.

No honorable mentions, I'm going to bed. The new Phoebe Bridgers album was good on first pass, will listen on non-car speakers.

Title: Retrogenesis
Artist(s): idialedyournumber
Genre(s): Indie pop, Midwest emo, electronic
Released: 2026

Thoughts: This whole album is pretty short but is worth a listen. Fun twinkly garage-emo that has enough production polish to keep from sounding like a lot of muddy Instagram-released projects in this genre. I post this track specifically because the autotune and electronic segments add a lot of charm to this sound, though some of the other tracks are much more straightforward teenage angst emo. If p.s. eliot had been signed to the I Can Has Cheezburger label.

Honorable mentions:
Kiss Me To Death: We Are Not Friends, Nextime
July, Lowell
Secrets, Isla Den
⭐Mouse, mary in the junkyard

Title: BURNMATERIAL
Artist(s): tsubi club
Genre(s): Indie pop
Released: 2026

Thoughts: Busy work day, trinket was a great album to have on at the computer. BURNMATERIAL and all-time chump stand out as very catchy and fun songs. Chaotic production but it's all fun stuff happening.

Title: Falling out of Love
Artist: The Strokes
Genre: Alt rock
Released: 2026

Thoughts: Reddit does NOT like this track. Which makes sense if you really like The Strokes. This is a brain tickler and I'll stand by it. The autotune is the most easily contestable element, but holding a pleasant melody while very obviously stressing its limits adds a certain something. All hail the robo-crooner.

Honorable mentions:
peel away, abracadabra
⭐Did You Ever Want To Go To Your Own Funeral?, James Ellis Ford
Gold, Derby
