Indeed, I've been dreaming of getting a metal detector for a while now :D

But not because I want to find a gold stash, though that would be fun, but because I just want to use one lol

Same! :)

I actually knew a guy here whose side gig was looking for old coins around in the fields in Serbia and then he would sell them online.

We have a ton, and he would usually find one or two that are perhaps common, a lot of Roman stuff and earn a bit of money for them.

Nothing spectacular (and legitimacy of that is also a bit questionable) but it just sounded like fun looking for random stuff with the metal detector :D

Yeah its funny how Roman coins are pretty worthless, unless found in a specific context/setting, and even then the value is not monetary but for historical dating purposes. I had a buddy of mine come from holiday in southern Europe, he excitedly showed me a Roman coin he had bought for "only 50€!" and I had to show him that he could have gone online and bought like 10 of the same coins for 20€ :D

Poor Roman empire, fell apart and its currency is still worthless even today :D
